Privacy Policy

The short version: Yoshu stores your financial records on your device. We don't require an account, we don't sell your data, and information only leaves your iPhone for specific features you choose to use — described in full below.

This Privacy Policy explains how YoTrade, LLC ("we", "our", "us") handles information in the Yoshu mobile application and at yoshu.xyz (the "Service").

1. Information stored on your device

Your transactions, tags, budgets, recurring items, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData. By default this information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. If you enable iCloud, Apple syncs this data across your own devices under your Apple ID, governed by Apple's privacy policy.

2. Receipt import and AI categorization

Yoshu can read an amount from a receipt screenshot (OCR) and suggest a category. There are two paths:

On-device: Basic text recognition and keyword matching run entirely offline on your iPhone.
AI categorization (optional): When you use the AI feature, the relevant receipt image and text are sent to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI) for processing, and a category suggestion is returned. By default this request is relayed through our secure server (a Cloudflare Worker) which adds the API credentials; alternatively you can configure your own AI endpoint and key in Settings.

We do not retain the images or text you send for AI categorization. Third-party AI providers process the request under their own policies and do not use Yoshu API traffic to train their models per their API terms. You can avoid all third-party processing by using only the on-device option.

3. Exchange rates

To convert between currencies, Yoshu fetches reference exchange rates from a third-party rate service. These requests do not include your personal or transaction data.

4. Information we do not collect

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

5. Diagnostics

Apple may provide us with anonymized crash and performance diagnostics if you opt in to sharing them with developers in your iOS settings. This data is not linked to your identity.

6. How we use information

To provide and operate the app's features on your device
To return receipt and category suggestions when you use AI features
To respond to support requests you send us by email
To detect and prevent abuse of our relay server

7. Your data, your control

You can export all of your data to a CSV file at any time, and delete your data by removing it in the app or deleting the app. Because data is stored locally, uninstalling the app removes it from your device.

8. Children's privacy

Yoshu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. International users

YoTrade, LLC is based in the United States. Third-party processing (such as AI categorization) may occur on servers located in the United States or other countries.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
